Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership
Covers: Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Mexico. Gives Vietnam-origin goods preferential tariff access to 11 economies. Thailand and India are NOT members.
EVFTA
EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement
Entered into force August 2020. Eliminates 99% of EU-Vietnam tariffs. Vietnam is the first developing country in Southeast Asia to sign an FTA with the EU. Thailand has NO EU FTA.
RCEP
Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership
World's largest FTA by GDP coverage. ASEAN 10 + China + Japan + South Korea + Australia + New Zealand. Covers approx. 30% of global GDP. Facilitates Vietnam supply chains that use regional inputs from China, Japan, or Korea.
UKVFTA
UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement
Entered into force January 2021 post-Brexit. Eliminates tariffs on 99% of goods. Important for UK-based buyers sourcing from Vietnam — no other Southeast Asian country has an equivalent UK FTA in force with this breadth.
