Vietnam's Forging Sector: Built on Automotive Quality Standards
Vietnam's forging industry grew alongside Honda, Toyota, and Yamaha production in the country. The Tier 1 automotive supply chain demanded — and got — Japanese-standard quality systems, documented processes, and measurable output quality. That infrastructure is now accessible to global buyers sourcing through Dewin.

Forging FAQ
Which Vietnam factories does DEWIN work with for forging?
Our forging network spans factories in Hanoi, Haiphong, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City — covering hot closed-die forging (500T–5,000T presses), cold forging, warm forging, ring rolling, and open-die operations. Every factory has been physically visited, audited, and photographed by our on-ground team under the 50-point Dolphin scoring system.
What forging processes are available in Vietnam?
Hot forging (open-die and closed-die), cold forging, warm forging, impression die forging, ring rolling (up to 500kg), drop forging for high volumes, and isothermal forging for titanium and nickel alloys. Many factories include in-house heat treatment, CNC finishing, and NDT inspection.
What materials can Vietnam forging factories process?
Carbon steels (1018, 1045, 1060, 1080), alloy steels (4140, 4340, 8620, H13, D2), stainless steels (304, 316, 17-4PH, 15-5PH, 410), aluminum alloys (2024-T4, 6061-T6, 7075-T6), titanium (Grade 2, Grade 5/Ti-6Al-4V), copper alloys, and nickel superalloys. Full material traceability with mill certs provided.
How does the 50-point Dolphin audit work for forging factories?
Our Dolphin audit for forging factories scores 50 checkpoints across 5 pillars: Quality Management (ISO status, press calibration records, heat treat furnace calibration, dimensional inspection process), Equipment & Capacity (press tonnage list, die storage, induction heating equipment), Tooling (die design capability, maintenance records, tool life tracking), Labor & HSE Compliance, and Financial Stability. You receive the full audit score, factory photos, equipment list, and certifications before your first order.
What certifications do Vietnam forging factories hold?
ISO 9001:2015 is standard across our forging network. Automotive-focused forging factories also hold IATF 16949. Factories supplying Honda, Toyota, and Yamaha Tier 1 programs operate to Japanese OEM quality standards. Specific certifications are detailed in each factory's Dolphin audit profile.
What are typical lead times and MOQs?
New die development: 4–8 weeks. First article inspection: 2–4 weeks after die approval. Production runs: 3–6 weeks. MOQ: 200–500 pieces for new closed-die projects. Open-die and ring rolling: no practical MOQ. Tooling cost: $2,000–$40,000 depending on die complexity and process.
Can I see photos of the forging factories before committing?
Yes — that's exactly what we offer. Our on-ground team has photographed and video-toured every factory in our network. You'll see the actual press floor, die storage area, heat treatment furnaces, inspection equipment, and finished parts. These aren't stock photos — they're real images from our most recent factory visits.
Do Vietnam forging factories offer post-forging operations?
Most of our forging partners include in-house heat treatment (annealing, quenching & tempering, case hardening), CNC machining for critical features, shot blasting, and basic NDT. We coordinate third-party NDT labs (UT, magnetic particle, dye penetrant) and surface coating (zinc plating, powder coat, phosphate) when not available in-house.
